Kenya Peoples – Buffalo Promise Neighborhood Financial Coach & Difference Maker
Kenya Peoples spends his workday assisting Buffalo Promise Neighborhood clients develop achievable financial goals. For some, that may be opening their first checking account, perhaps creating a budget, or purchasing their first car or home. He leans on lessons learned through youth football experiences – resiliency, integrity, teamwork and learning to respect others. These values allow him to level set client expectations when overcoming life obstacles.
His positive outlook on life and career has proved immeasurable. Kenya often credits client success to the old adage “If you feed them a fish, they eat for a day but if you teach them to fish, they eat for a lifetime.”
Kenya was recently recognized by WGRZ TV as a Selfless Among Us recipient. Interested in hearing his full story you can view it here Selfless Among Us: Kenya Peoples | wgrz.com
Massachusetts Avenue Project - Fourth Annual Farmers Market
For the fourth year in a row, Buffalo Promise has partnered with the Massachusetts Avenue Project (MAP) to host a Farmers Market on Buffalo’s Eastside. Weather permitting, the market is held every Tuesday from June to October at the corner of Bailey & Dartmouth.
MAP’s Mobile Market – a produce stand on wheels brings fresh produce to areas of the city that don’t have adequate access to fresh, reasonably-priced, and culturally appropriate food. Through this partnership, our community receives access to an abundance of affordable, high-quality produce. Each and every week, we invite local business owners to showcase their wares. Additionally, a variety of social service agencies table at the market to provide relevant health and welfare information to our community residents.
Stop by on your way home from work to pick up some seasonal produce for dinner! If you are interested in learning more about the Massachusetts Avenue Project, please visit their website MAP
Westminster Community Charter School Graduation 2022
Graduation season is back in full swing this June for our Kindergarten and 8th Grade graduates! Forty-five Westminster 8th graders will go on to attend some of the best public/private area schools. Additionally, we will graduate 56 of our youngest scholars from our Early Education Academies.
Did you know that each year since 2018 two Westminster students receive awards in recognition of Robert G. Wilmers and Mark J. Czarnecki? Students who exemplify Community Service and Equity for All are chosen by their teachers to receive these prestigious awards. This is one way Westminster continues to honor the legacy of our former M&T Bank leaders.
This year we celebrate our graduates, their families and our school staff who persevered and held steadfast to the promise they made to themselves and each other to succeed against all odds and move forward to the next chapter of their lives.
Volunteer Opportunities
We are pleased to announce that volunteer opportunities for M&T Bank employees are slowly coming back! If you are interested in learning more, please email Stephanie Ansari sansari@mtb.com.
