We are pleased to introduce another one of our Buffalo Promise Neighborhood Promise Scholars, Malonya Laws. Malonya is beginning her senior year at Nardin Academy!

Prior to attending Nardin Academy, Malonya was a student at Westminster Community Charter School. Maloyna expressed appreciation for her time spent at Westminster, as she felt very prepared for the rigorous coursework at Nardin. Despite taking such challenging coursework, she has maintained top grades in her classes.

Malonya is thriving at Nardin and is excited to begin her final year of high school! She states that one of her favorite things about Nardin are the teachers. One person in particular, her AP English teacher, has influenced her with positive energy and encouragement. She continuously encourages them, and always pushes them to be the best version of themselves.  

Malonya worked hard to become a Promise Scholar, and the program has meant a lot to her ever since; “Being a Promise Scholar meant that all my hard work was paying off. It meant that I had advocates in my corner cheering me on that believe in me.  It pushed me to work even harder because I knew that there were people counting on me and wanted good things for me and my future.”

Malonya has begun preparing for life after high school and hopes to study to become a Physician’s Assistant one day. We know she is going to do amazing things in college and beyond, and we can’t to see where her future will take her!
