The Scholastic Book Fair has been a feature at Westminster Community Charter School for the past two decades! This twice-yearly event brings in money and “points” from Scholastic that have allowed us to purchase books and furniture for our students and school library. The Spring event is traditionally a Buy One Get One Free fair allowing students the chance to double up and get some great deals on books! Generous donations from staff, students and our families also allow us to purchase books for students as prizes and rewards for academic achievements and positive behaviors.

Twice a year volunteers show up to support M&T Bank’s WNY Community Impact Day – and this Spring was no different! Thanks to hard work, muscle, and a green thumb or two, our school grounds at Westminster and the BPN Children’s Academy now have beautifully manicured beds that welcome families and help beautify the neighborhood. While some volunteers helped with the clean-up , others helped our students decorate planter pots and create seed bombs – just in time for Mother’s Day gift giving! We look forward to welcoming back our M&T volunteers this summer as they continue to enhance the physical grounds of our school community!

 On a beautiful day in May, talented Westminster students put on a Spring Showcase, showing off their visual and performing arts skills. Our art teachers, Mr. Panek and Mrs. LaManna, featured the artwork of students across all grade levels, while our music teachers, Mrs. Bissett and Ms. McDonald, directed students in Band and Choir. Students played and sang nautically themed selections, such as Under the Sea, The Wellerman, and Hoist the Colors. Performances ranged from slow and haunting, to upbeat and toe-tapping! Families, friends, and teachers came together to support students and the Art and Music Departments are grateful for the support of our wonderful school community!
