On a sunny August afternoon, 500+ students, families and community residents beat the summer heat and got a jump start on back to school! Buffalo Promise Neighborhood hosted our annual Back to School Bash on the green space at Westminster Community Charter School in partnership with our Independent Health Good for the Neighborhood event.
Our incredible community partners set up tables and offered delicious food and fun family activities. There were free health screenings, seasonal fresh fruits and veggies supplied by Braymiller’s Market, school supplies/backpacks, and haircuts for everyone provided by Hair Cuts for Those in Need! Thanks to West Herr for supplying a great meal and the Teacher’s Desk for their generous donation of backpacks again this year. We were happy to welcome AKG and Explore and More for a day of fun in the sun!
Thank you to our community partners in attendance: Buffalo Center for Health Equity, Buffalo Perinatal, Cancer Services Program, City of Buffalo, Compeer, ECMC, EPIC, Erie County, HELP – Ban on Menthol, Healthy Community Store Initiative, HOME, Horizons, Independent Health, Kids Escaping Drugs, Mental Health Associates, National Fuel, Northland Workforce Development, Office of Health Equity, UB MD Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, UB Pediatrics, WNY COSH, and the YWCA.
