Read about the Buffalo Bills visit to Highgate Heights!
It was an exciting day at Highgate Heights on Wednesday! A group of students from Highgate and Westminster Community Charter School had the opportunity to train like a Buffalo Bill!
Over 30 students from both schools in 4th, 5th and 6th grade took part in the event. Before they jumped into activities, they had the chance to meet Bills President, Kim Pegula, Head Coach McDermott, and Linebacker Lorenzo Alexander.
All of the students that joined in the fun yesterday are part of the schools NFL flag football teams. This program is made possible through a generous grant from the Buffalo Bills Foundation. Mr. O’Hare, Mr. Olgin, Mr. Martin, and Mr. Shoemaker who coach the students, have worked diligently with them to develop their football skills as well as teaching them important lessons about teamwork and dedication.
After the kids participated in a question and answer session with our guests, they played games and got tips from Lorenzo Alexander and Coach McDermott! They had a blast playing flag football with Lorenzo, and tossed the ball with Coach McDermott.
The event followed an exciting statement from the M&T Bank and the Bills. M&T Chief Marketing Officer, Peter Eliopoulos and Kim Pegula announced that M&T will continue to be the bank of the Buffalo Bills for another 5 years!
We are so grateful to the Buffalo Bills and M&T Bank for making this event possible for our kids!
Buffalo Promise Neighborhood is a long-term collaboration between M&T Bank and its community to empower schools, students, and families. We understand that learning and opportunity are intrinsically connected, and that success is most meaningful when its shared by everyone.
