Presenting Westminster's 8th Grade Graduates of the Class of 24-25
On Saturday, June 14th, Westminster Community Charter School hosted its annual 8th grade graduation for 41 students as they prepare for their transition to high school. Fifteen students from this year’s graduating class have been part of the Westminster community since kindergarten. Two students, Jesse Buchanan & Marianna Henderson, were selected to receive Promise Scholarships, funded by Buffalo Promise Neighborhood, giving them the opportunity to attend some of the region’s best private high schools. Alumni of this program have moved on to some of the nation’s top colleges and universities, proving the potential of a Westminster education to empower a student from kindergarten through career. The Mark Czarnecki award was presented to Kahlil Thompson and the Bob Wilmers Award was presented to Za’kia Polite. This year’s guest speaker was Lisa Lickers-Ricks, a 1999 Westminster graduate and class valedictorian, who now serves as the Founder of the Young Women’s Empowerment Academy (YWEA) and a Financial Services Professional at New York Life.
