YWCA of Western New York recently hosted its Lights On Afterschool Initiative at Westminster Community Charter School, a nationwide celebration of afterschool programs that takes place in cities across the country. It highlights afterschool programs that offer students new experiences and opportunities, as well as hands-on learning that help them grow in a safe and nurturing environment.
We were honored to have Deputy County Executive Lisa Chimera and Talisa King, Live Well Erie Coordinator and National Afterschool Alliance Ambassador of the Year, in attendance at the event.
The YWCA brought fun Halloween crafts, delicious pasta and meatballs for the students to eat, and community resources to Westminster from United Way of Erie County, M&T Bank, and Girl Scouts of WNY. Niagara Falls was also illuminated in honor of the Lights On Afterschool initiative.
Thank you to Live Well Erie and the Afterschool Alliance for making this event possible as our sponsors!
