Cornell University’s fiber science agriculture program is an interactive six-week experience for 5th grade students at Westminster Community Charter School. Through hands-on lessons, students explore fiber and textiles across six core topic areas.

Students learn where their clothing comes from by examining fibers such as cotton, and other textile materials, connecting agriculture, science, and everyday life. Most notably, they will discover the importance of sustainability by learning how clothing can be repurposed and transformed from waste into something new. As students follow the journey of how clothes are made, from raw materials to finished products, they build a deeper understanding of both environmental responsibility and the real world impact of their choices.
