Through a generous grant provided by the Buffalo Bills Foundation, 40 Buffalo Promise Neighborhood students took part in a flag football program, provided by NFL FLAG powered by USA Football. The co-ed program was offered to students in grades 3 to 5 at both Highgate Heights Elementary and Westminster Community Charter School. For the past 8 weeks, students were coached by teachers, learning not just about flag football, but also about healthy competition. This culminated in a game between the schools that was held at New Era Field on May 5th, 2018.
Students took to the field and played just like the pros! They were cheered on by family, teachers and friends as they showcased all they had learned in the past few weeks. Also cheering them on, Billy Buffalo, who high-fived the players after scoring drives and big plays.
The day was all about fun, and thanks to the Buffalo Bills Foundation and M&T Bank, the students have a story they can tell for their lifetime!
Buffalo Promise Neighborhood is a long-term collaboration between M&T Bank and its community to empower schools, students, and families. We understand that learning and opportunity are intrinsically connected, and that success is most meaningful when its shared by everyone.
