BPN Celebrates the Promise Scholars

BPN hosts a celebratory evening for the Promise Scholars, including the very first cohort to graduate and head on to college.
2018 has been an exciting year for our Promise Scholars program, as we celebrated the successful graduation and college acceptance for our first cohort of students! These eight students will be headed off to such prestigious institutions as Niagara University, Syracuse University, Canisius College, SUNY Binghamton, Fredonia State and Alfred State. We celebrated these students, as well as all of our Promise Scholars on Wednesday, August 8th, 2018 at the historic Marcy Casino.
The Promise Scholars program is a cornerstone of the Buffalo Promise Neighborhood initiative. Through generous support from M&T Bank and late CEO, Bob Wilmers, we have been able to fully fund private high school tuition for a total of 37 of our students. All students awarded the scholarship have graduated from either Highgate Heights Elementary School or Westminster Community Charter School. Outside of funding, BPN also provides continued support throughout high school for the scholars.

It is safe to say that all of these future college students have very bright futures ahead. We cannot wait to see what they do next!
