The Buffalo Promise Neighborhood Community Affairs program was born through a desire to help build strong relationships with community members in our neighborhood. We work with residents, school officials, faith based leaders, block club members, business owners, not-for-profit organizations and elected officials to maintain a vibrant, safe neighborhood and community for all.
Eight Days of Hope
Eight Days of Hope is launching a new initiative called Eight Days of Hope - Buffalo!
Since Eight Days of Hope opened its first satellite location in Buffalo, they have grown to love this community and the people in it. Through meeting many citizens and visiting multiple neighborhoods, the need to help the local community cannot be ignored.
This eight-day outreach will consist of serving 100 families in the University District in the city of Buffalo! From July 19th - 26th, you will have a chance to experience Eight Days of Hope with your friends and volunteers from around the country.
There will be something for everyone to do! We will be doing carpentry work, painting, roofing, flooring, plumbing, electrical, landscaping, clean up and so much more! For more information and to sign up to volunteer, click the following link: Eight Days of Hope Buffalo
In an initiative to improve access to healthy food in the neighborhood, BPN has partnered with African Heritage Food Cooperative (AHFC) to bring fresh fruits and vegetables to the community. We have also partnered with area delis and corner stores to ensure they have fresh fruits and vegetables available on site.
Block Clubs are an important part of the community. Our neighborhood will be steeped in pride, and engaged to address the needs of the area.
Another important part of community engagement is the established community council, which has empowered residents to move into shareholder and stakeholder positions through active membership, as well as an executive board (pictured top left).
- There are 7 neighborhood delis participating in our Corner Store Initiative
- Through a partnership with Belmont Housing, 10 homes in the 14215 zip code were renovated
- There are currently 12 block clubs in the Buffalo Promise Neighborhood
"Buffalo Promise Neighborhood and M&T Bank have meant a great deal to this neighborhood. There is more vibrancy. We have more community involvement in meetings. The future looks bright." - Pastor Garmon, Community Leader
